Mirena
Three years ago
a butterfly entered
my body.
Her name, Mirena—
of the sea—
not just an IUD.
Placed precisely in my cervix
Fluttering through a plush landscape,
Searching for sustenance.
Mirena’s proboscis extends,
attaches to the thickened wall--
feasting on fertility--
ingesting both life and death.
